Helmeted Head of a Fallen Warrior
Artist: Unknown
Date: About 100 B.C.
Location: Library, Second Level
The head of a helmeted warrior is a fragment from the pedimental sculptures (statues placed in the triangle formed by the roof of a building) at the Temple of Aegina. This piece is from the east pediment which probably depicted a contest between Herakles and Telamon against Loamedon of Troy. The original is now in the Antikensammlungen in Munich, Germany.
