Columbia State Hosts Air Force Musicians
(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Nov. 6, 2018) - - - Columbia State Community College will host the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America's Shades of Blue jazz ensemble for a concert in the Cherry Theater Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
Shades of Blue is a group of 13 professional musicians whose music inspires patriotism, connects communities with military service members and honors our country's veterans.
"Shades of Blue represents the pride and professionalism of the U.S. Air Force through the language of music," said Clifford Gordon, Columbia State assistant professor of art. "The audience will be impressed by the quality of musical performance, and their range of style will provide something for everyone to enjoy. I hope everyone will come out to enjoy and support them."
During a concert, you are just as likely to hear the music of contemporary jazz composers as you would the classic sounds of Count Basie or Maj. Glenn Miller. The band features instrumental and vocal soloists, as well as compositions and arrangements by its own talented members.
The concert is free and open to the public. The Cherry Theater is located in the Waymon L. Hickman Building on the Columbia Campus at 1665 Hampshire Pike.
