"I have taught college level mathematics for 20 years and have taught students of many different races, education background, beliefs, social standing, economic standing and disability needs. It has always been my intent that students from all diverse backgrounds and perspectives be well served by the courses that I teach, that students' learning needs be addressed both in and out of class and the diversity that students bring to my class be viewed as a resource and strength. It has always been my intent to present materials and activities that help students to simply learn and grow. Receiving this award lets me know that I am making a difference. Thank you to TRIO and to all the students who voted for me."
