8th Annual Lungs of Steel 5K Run/Walk

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Feb. 8, 2016) - - - Columbia State Community College's Respiratory Care Club, in conjunction with Maury County Parks and Recreation, will host their 8th Annual Lungs of Steel 5K Run/Walk on March 5.
"Each year, it's exciting to see the 5K continue," said R. David Johnson, program director and associate professor of respiratory care. "These students all work toward the same goal, so it's a great bonding experience for everyone involved."
The 5k run/walk will take place at Maury County Park in Columbia. In addition, there will be a one-mile fun-walk for kids and a one-mile pet run/walk. All pets must be on a leash.
The pre-registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 12. It is $30 to pre-register for the 5K run/walk, and the one-mile fun-run and pet walk/run are $10 each. Early registrants will receive a T-shirt.
Race-day registration begins at 8 a.m. and is $40 for the 5K run/walk. The one-mile fun-run and pet run/walk are $15 each. The race begins at 9 a.m.
The 2016 Lungs of Steel 5K is dedicated in memory of 8-year-old Anna Elise Bowlds, who lost her fight with cystic fibrosis Nov. 16, 2015. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Anna Elise's funeral and medical expense fund.
A portion of the proceeds will be also be donated to The Christina Davidson Foundation to help fight cystic fibrosis and Maury County Parks & Recreation for help in planning the event.All runners/walkers are encouraged to dress up in their favorite superhero costume! Prizes will be given for best adult male, best adult female, best child male, best child female, and best pet costumes.
The Respiratory Care Club also uses the event to raise money to attend the respiratory care state convention.
