(COLUMBIA, Tenn - July 14, 2015) In April, Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society held a bake sale as part of Columbia State Community College's Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities.
"With the support of Columbia State students, faculty, and staff, we were able to raise over $200 for Center of Hope," said Brittany Hall, assistant professor of English and SKD sponsor.
Center of Hope, located in Columbia, provides services such as counseling, advocacy, and housing to domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking victims in Maury County.
After presenting Center of Hope with their donation, SKD members were able to meet with Brook Osborn, associate director of operations, to discuss Center of Hope's mission and to tour their facility.
"In addition to making a donation to Center of Hope during the spring semester, we also collected donations of school supplies and children's books for the Boys and Girls Club of Maury County, which will be delivered this fall," Hall said.
