Columbia State Participates in Special Community Service Project

The Angel Christmas Tree was surrounded by gifts donated for children across Maury County.

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Jan. 5, 2015) - Since 1998, Columbia State Community College's Student Government Association has sponsored the Christmas Angel Tree project benefiting children across Maury County. This year, 80 gifts were purchased and wrapped by students, faculty and staff and were donated to children from ages birth to 17-years-old.

"The Angel Tree is a good example of college-wide engagement in a special community service," said Cecelia Johnson, associate vice president of student services. "Everyone benefits - children receive their desired gifts, and donors experience the joy of giving. SGA and the Columbia State community are to be commended for their continuing commitment to the Angel Tree project."

The Angel Tree project is administered by the Maury County Christmas Program, which is a 501c3 organization. The organization also supports two other programs - Adopt-a-Family and The Daily Herald Christmas Card program.
