SHOWTIME AT FIRST BAPTIST: THE WOMEN OF IVY GAP RETURN
Thursday, October 29 at 7 p.m. at Cherry Theater
Columbia State Community College presents Showtime at First Baptist: The Women of Ivy Gap Return, the second performance in the 2009-2010 First Farmers & Merchants Bank Performance Series, on Thursday, October 29 at 7 p.m. in the Cherry Theater. The play, written by Ron Osbourne and directed by Nicole Bégué, is a Cumberland County Playhouse production.
"This will be a fun show for everyone-especially women's groups or church groups looking for a fun night out," said Monteia Moore, Columbia State's Director of Evening and Community Services.
The women of Ivy Gap return in '09 with the Tennessee premiere of Showtime at First Baptist, the sequel to First Baptist of Ivy Gap. After the 100th Birthday of Ivy Gap, May Ellen (Weslie Webster), Vera (Sharyn Tadolini) and Olene (Michele Colvin) plan a benefit talent show to help the Pastor meet a crisis. But the mayor's wife thinks she's a Baptist "Deputy Sheriff" (with a siren on her red Cadillac!). She likes men in charge of everything, and fights the talent show. But through laughter, tragedy, and showbiz, the church - and the women - survive, stronger than ever.
The cost of tickets for the show is $15 for adults and $10 for Columbia State students. For more information or to charge tickets by phone, call (931) 540-2879. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted.
