PLAY PROVIDES LOOK INTO LIVES OF JOHN AND ABIGAIL ADAMS

Performance Free and Open to the Public Thursday, Oct. 4

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Sept. 17, 2012) - - - The American Heritage Series breathes life into the second president of the United States and his wife with an original play. John and Abigail Adams left a historical treasure chest of letters to one another that reveal a couple who found themselves in the cusp of a nation's birth and intimately associated with the famous people of that era. The everyday details of a couple separated by the call of historical duty are captured in the words shared between the president and first lady.

Written by the mother of assistant professor of history, Jan de le Mer, the faculty has elected to produce the play for students and the general public beginning Thursday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ledbetter Auditorium in the Frank G. Clement building on Columbia State's Columbia campus.

Stuart Lenig, Ph.D., professor of drama and history instructor, Greg Mewbourn will share the stage with de le Mer.
